Akram won 17 men's prizes of the match in 104 tests. He took 4 hat-tricks in international cricket. It ended with 22 Man-in-the-Party awards in ODIs. In 199 ODI match victories, he added 326 wickets in less than 19 each with an execution rate of 3.70.

Before his retirement, he was one of the eight most important players in the Sharjah league in April 2003, and was then omitted from the Pakistan team for the subsequent triangular series of the Alfalah Cup. Due to his omission of the team, he did not participate in a farewell match. Akram fulfilled his game contract for Hampshire until the end of the cricket season in England.

Akram is considered one of the best and fastest players in the history of cricket. He holds the world record for the highest number of wickets with 881.
